What is this PCMCIA TV tuner video capture MPEG card, Could this enhance the quality of the video output to TV?

I have an acer extensa 5620, I connect it to television, but the quality of video is not so good, If I buy this PCMCIA TV tuner video capture MPEG card, could this enhance the video quality of the television, as well as my laptop?|||it is only for watching tv on a laptop.|||If I understand the question correctly, no. A TV tuner card is for connecting either an antenna or cable to your computer so you can watch broadcast or cable TV. Video capture means that the card can also record anything coming in through the tuner card, provided you have the software to finish the capture and encoding process. MPEG is the format that the capture card will encode, which is the format used for DVDs.

It pretty much lets you watch and record TV on your computer.

Is there such a thing as a graphics card with rca video output?

I have an older tv, I dont know what you call it but it's the kind with the rounded screen and a huge casing. The thing weighs a good 200 pounds, but I dont care because the screen is huge (don't know the exact size, but I had a 36 inch and this is way bigger)... anyway, yeah. Is there such thing as a graphics card with rca video output?|||No. But you can use the VGA to RCA converter.|||about 5-10 years ago they were quite common. Some laptops had it built in.

But today most TVs have HDMI or VGA input which makes it easy for your computer and TV to talk (iPad only has HDMI output)

Anway, you will be able to find one if you shop around. Usually specialist suppliers will carry these products and you won't find them in your normal computer store.

As for VGA to rca converters, they are also pretty hard to find. Many people swear they don't exist, but you can find them.

I would suggest eBay as the best source for such things.

On a standard video card on a PC, what is the output to monitor called? What type of port is it?

i am trying to convert the output on my pc to rca or another compatable output to connect to my tv, i know there are many solutions that require an additional card, or a different card, and i know about the tuner boxes. but i know that there is a way to go from one right to the other with rca. i just cant recall what it is called!!|||your video graphics array (VGA) connector can be know as either a VGA (duh) or a 15-pin DIN.

Why won't my s-video output on my laptop work?!?

I have an ATI RADEON X300 video card in my laptop. It has s-video output. When plugged into a tv it displays the desktop and menus and window but it won't display any video. Is there any way to get video to output onto my tv from my computer?|||In your display settings, you probably need to set which output port is to be used for actual video display. Since video is often handled differently on video cards than graphics (called overlay video) you may need to set that to the svideo port. That or you need to force your video to use direct draw, which can reduce video display performance, but it should resolve your particular issue.|||well, this may sound sooo basic but please bear with me.. hope this helps:

- check cables

- make sure that your tv is in svideo mode

- make sure that the drivers on the notebook is installed properly

- there is a certain Fn+function key that will activate this.. check f1-f12 if there is a monitor looking icon in it. if there is, press Fn then the F key.

- if not.. go to display settings and go to advanced settings.. try tweakingnthisngs there that you think is CLOSELY related to tv output..

I remember having to do something like that when I would play a video but it just showed up as black space on the TV.|||you ask that im using a svideo on a tv right now.|||My guess is the svideo is running in hdtv and your monitor does not support it running the hd video

What is good way to convert PC display (VGA) output to video-s so that it can be recorded on CCTV equipment?

I have a set-up where one workstation drives 8 monitors via two 4-head video cards. I'm looking for a way to record everything that happens on the monitors.|||the easiest way is with a patch cable or converter both are readily available rather cheaply on e-bay search for : vga to video-s

I have an HP 530 laptop, how do I check if my video card can output a HDTV signal ?

i'm interested in connecting my laptop to tv to watch media on my tv thats on my laptop. I am considering using an vga to vga or vga to hdmi, and then I must also use RCA cables for the audio from the pc to tv.....but thats not the biggest of my problems i was told I need to make sure my pc and video card can output the hdtv signal|||I have the same computer and it can't.|||The Graphics Card on you laptop cannot output a HDTV signal.|||Normally, if your video card supports HDTV, it has an HDMI gate. If it doesn't, it's most likely it doesn't support HD.

How can I hook up two HDMI monitors? Why are there no video cards with two HDMI ports?

Would I need to get two videocards with one single HDMI output? or can I just use a DVI to HDMI crossover cable and that will just work with no special configuration?

This is assuming that I have a video card with one HDMI output and one DVI output.

What exactly is eyeinfinity and what does it have to do with multiple monitors?|||The reason why video cards with HDMI have one DVI port and one HDMI port is because HDMI is actually limited in resolution-- HDMI is single-link DVI video, which goes up to only 1920x1200 resolution.

The DVI port on the video card would usually be a dual-link DVI port, which can go up to 2560x1600 resolution.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a video card with just two HDMI ports and nothing else.. I like having at least one port capable of resolutions higher than 1920x1200.

HDMI is single-link DVI only because high-definition media like broadcast HD television programming and Blu-Ray discs top out at 1080p (that's 1920x1080 resolution).|||Two video cards is the only way to go right now.

Which video cards have an hdmi input or output?

im looking for one that i can connect to my hdtv, also does this output sound also? such as the gtx 295 or ati hd 5970?|||There`s a whole bunch of cards with hdmi output. Can anybody recommend a good, cheap PCI video card with S-cable output?

I've recently come into the possession of an old desktop with a 1.4 Ghz CPU. Confusion about latest video cards, why do they have different output connectors than the standard 15 pin?

I had my heart set on a 1.5GB ATi Radeon HD 2600XT until my dad realised that the connectors are completely different than my monitor, what modern monitor would I need to purchase so that it will fit the latest graphics card?|||The problem here is that the 15 pin VGA connector you describe isn't really "standard" anymore. CRT monitors (and tvs) were analog devices and took analog inputs, computers on the other hand generate digital signals. Graphics cards then did their thing before converting the digital information (a big table of values for each pixel on the screen) into an analog signal to be sent to the screen. LCD screens however are digital devices, they "know" they consist of a fixed number of finite sized dots and are capable of setting any particular dot to any particular colour. This means that initially computers were generating a digital version of an image, the graphics card was converting it to an analogue signal for the monitor and the monitor was then converting it back again into a block of digital data in order to display it. This was clearly a bit silly and the conversion process led to some reduction in image quality. A DVI connector carries digital information (in a very similar way to an HDMI connector on a new HDTV) avoiding the need for this conversion process and resulting in a better quality image. Monitors are increasingly providing DVI connectors (though not all cheap ones do) and similarly, good graphics cards are also providing these outputs.

However, if you don't fancy upgrading your monitor then don't worry. Most graphics cards (I've not seen a gamer grade one one that doesn't) come with an adapter which you plug into the DVI port and converts it to a 15 pin VGA adapter. The picture quality won't be quite as good as it would have been if you were using a DVI compatible monitor but you're highly unlikely to be able to tell the difference and it won't be any worse than it would have been if the card had a VGA output by default. On the off chance the card doesn't come with one, they're very cheap. To give you an idea, CCL (www.cclonline.com) has some for £3.70, alternatively any computer shop, online computer e-tailer or ebay will have them for next to nothing.|||that probably DVI-D or DVI-A cards. modern cards can support few deifferent resolution plus LCD monitors.|||DVI,(Digital Video Interface), it's on LCD's, along with the standard Vga. OR, you could go to Radio Shack,(cheaper to buy online from someone else), and buy a DVI to VGA converter adapter,(about $14.99), and use your CRT monitor you have now!|||If you get a modern day video card it will have the converter inside of the box with the card. They know that not everyone has this type of monitor yet and they provide you with the inverter.|||Any graphics card you buy nowadays will ALWAYS be supplied with a DVI-VGA adapter unless its 2nd hand of course it could be missing.

They have a really good hardware selection tool where you can specify your criteria for a video card, or any other hardware for that matter. ATI and nVidia pretty much own the video card market, and all the manufacturers use their chips. I've had good luck with EVGA.

I just looked at newegg and they have two cards that fit the bill.

How do I find if my laptop video card supporst tv output?

My laptop has the 15 pin VGA and the tv has a S-Video. I would like to connect them but am unsure about my video card supporting this. How do I find out?|||Most of the computers (PC and Lap Top) have a 15 pin VGA output for monitor. If your computer has such output then you can connect it to TV in following manner:

1. If the VGA card supports the TV output then you can connect your computer with a 'VGA To S-Video' cable available at any electronic store. For audio, you need 'Y Audio Cable' to connect your computer's earphone to your TV's audio input jacks. It is also available at all electronic stores.

2. If the VGA card does not support the TV output then you will need 'PC To TV' Converter'. The one end of the connector has a male 15 pin plug which you connect with your computer's VGA output. The ohter end of the connector has 3 types of outputs. VGA, S-Video and RCA. Because your TV has S-Video input, you can connect the TV connector to your TV with an S-Video cable. The audio connection can be done as described in 1 above.

The easiest way to find whether your VGA card supports TV output your dealer can tell if you can supply him the model of the VGA card.

Hope this will work.|||Simple, does your video card have an S-Video output?

What am i not doing correctly to get my 2 video cards working SLI with the onboard monitor output?

motherboard-----asus m3n-ht deluxe series

cpu----AMD phenom quad core x 2 9950 black edition

pci express----2 X nvidia g-force 8800 GTX 768mb DDR3 video cards

power supply 850 watts

bios is updated and everything was working good then i had a power surge or / outage and then i got little yellow group patterns in diffrent spots on the monitor screen and some screens its there and some its not . ive tryed to re install the video drivers but nothing changed, so i shut it down and pulled the cards and when i tryed to re install them back on the mother board i got no video at all. the monitor stays blank and nothing else happens at all. but when they are out i get a picture off the onboard output but none with the cards in . not even the card outputs. its like my computer just hangs . how can i install the cards and get video from the motherboard output so i can run the cards in SLI mode .is there somthing in the system bios i didnt do . and ive reset bios also and if the cards are in. nothing. when theyre out i get picture. this is driving me to kill bill gates help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!|||Try one card at a time - one of them could have gotten fried during the surge. How do i tell my desktop to use the motherboard VGA instead of the video cards DVI as an output?

I have been having computer problems lately, but I believe I have narrowed it down to this.

my monitor isn't recognizing a signal from the vga port on my computer. I have a new graphics card installed in my computer, but it has no vga port so i plugged my monitor into the motherboards vga port.

i think that my computer is trying to send an output signal from my graphics cards DVI port. how do i tell my computer to use the vga port?|||Take the video card out, then it will output on the motherboard vga port.

Or get a DVI > VGA adapter.|||You do realize that DVI -> VGA adapters are all over the place, right? If one didn't come with your video card, then just about any local PC shop should have them laying around.

Can I use two video cards in the same computer and output video on both?

Before I get a second video card... I need to know if this is possible. I am pretty sure it is... already using a pci-e card, and I am looking to get a pci card so I can use more monitors. I have 4 monitors, but can currently only use 2 of them (only one video card with two outputs).

Anyone using two cards? NOT the expensive SLI system?|||Yes, you can use 2 cards independently of each other without using SLI. SLI is strictly for improving performance using multiple GPU's for 1-2 monitors on the primary GPU (the second GPU would have nothing but the other video card plugged into it).|||Yes you can, but you may have compatibility issues. Not all video cards, drivers or motherboards play nice together. I would stick to the same chip type, nvidia or ati for both cards. It reduces the chance of issues of driver conflicts.

You may need to replace your power supply if it is not up to the task.

Another issue I believe you need to be running either Vista or Seven to accomplish this. XP in my experience does not like doing this.

BTW I am running a Nvidia 560ti and a 220 on my system right now.

Can my video card output 1920x1080?

Hey, I have a fairly bad video chipset, card thingy and I was wondering if it could output 1920x1080 for this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6101272&sku=B145-G2222%20CA monitor. Heres the dxdiag info

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/3352/67606501.png|||Yes. 1080p is entirely within that chipset's range, as long as you're not trying to play games at that level. It is an integrated chipset, not a hard core video card, after all. From pg 535 of Intel's Series 4 chipset datasheet ( http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datashee… )

• The GMCH’s analog port uses an integrated 350 MHz RAMDAC that can directly

drive a standard progressive scan analog monitor up to a resolution of 2048x1536

pixels with 32-bit color at 75 Hz.

• The GMCH’s SDVO ports are each capable of driving a 400 MP pixel rate. Each port

is capable of driving a digital display up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz.|||check the video output connector

if it's VGA, it will be blue, and that's not going to give you 1080p

if it's DVI, or white, that will give you up to 2520 x 1650 or something like that.

Pc no video output. not graphics card.?

Hi merry xmas.

my brothers acer pc has no video output via vga or hdmi (the machine turns on and all the correct lights are on/ fans spinning) I have taken the graphics card out of his pc and tried it in my pc (graphics card is fine) works fine in my pc.

I have tried another pc on his monitor and that works fine so i have ruled out:-

1/ the graphics card.

2/the monitor

3 the monitor vga cable.

I think his motherboard has gone?? but am no expert, any advice would be great.

thanks|||Try to install a different video card on his computer, then install the drivers for the card you want to install, then install the card you want to install.|||you may be correct, but a simple question do you have any speakers connected? You say the lights are all on does the hard drive attempt to run (so you would see the usual HD activity light flashing). If so then having speakers connected would give the Windows sound when the OS loads up giving a better indication if the mainboard is allowing the hardware to boot. Obviously sound would suggest the board is OK, the issue would then still most likely be VGA related, if the card works then perhaps it is the slot that has failed, I suppose you could still argue that the board has failed.|||Ok I like a challenge

If the card is working in your machine put it back in to your brothers. When you turn on the machine do you see the bios screen?

If no then your assumption could be right and the MB could be buggered.

If yes then it could be something as simple as your brother has set the screen resolution too high and thats why your not getting a display.

If you can see the bios, press F8 (usually) and boot the PC in to safe mode.

Once in safe mode adjust the screen resolution to 1024 * 768. Accept the settings and restart the machine. If this works Brill.

If this does not work, does the pc have on board graphics. Plug the monitor in to that and see if you get a display?

If you dont see the bios when you boot up, then your right to think your Motherboard is gone.

Good luck|||if he has a onboard video card meaning a extra vga port on the back of the pc if don't leave the graphic card in, reset the cmos jumper

Can you run two network cards, one being an input and one being an output?

I am stuck with using a Windows XP machine from Shea computers and I would like to be able to run the internet into it using one single port NIC ethernet card, then run out of it into my switcher (video switcher that will only take input from a computer via a network connection) so we can use what is on the computer screen in the switcher. The Windows IT guy at school does not know if this can be done... so like.. can it?|||Yes it can be done, and after you set up the network you must bridge the two connections together and it should work out.|||Yes you can use two network cards, but for that you have to use the correct cabling, one you have use the correct wiring structure and for the other you have to use the cross structure , if you want to connect it to the other system. follow this link, study and proceed - http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/…|||Read the manual.

Make sure the input to the video switcher is really ethernet. Then, figure out how it is intended to work, because a video switcher should have video inputs, right? I'm not saying it can't work, but since you're not feeding it video, whatever it's taking as input, will probably reuire setting up your computer to work with the switcher.

Chances are, you're supposed to put the switcher onto your network, alongside the computer. You don't need 2 cards in your PC.|||you can run two, both as input

but the answer to your q is ..NO, you need a network 'switch'(ironic huh?), wich is basically a tweaked out router, that or can program **** yourself under a posix kernal|||Your best option is to use a router for the internet connection, then plug both into that. This will be much faster and more reliable than 2 cards.

Do Grahpics Cards With HDMI Output Sound Also?

I'm planning on getting a Sapphire Toxic HD 6950, it comes with HDMI which I will hook up to my HD TV. Will sound also come out or do I somehow have to get a soundcard and hook that up to my TV also. I know that with my Xbox 360 has HDMI and outputs sound and video.

P.S. Please don't recommend a different GPU unless it's really important.|||I know that HDMI supports sound as well as video because I was able to watch and hear a video from my MacBook using a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter. But... that's on a laptop with all the components integrated together.

On a desktop system, I believe that your video card would have to be able to accept a cable from your sound card so that it can mix in the audio data with the video signal.|||Yes, of course.|||Yes it has HDMI ports (believe all newest video cards have them)

great choice though ^__^

Why do some video cards have 2 DVI outputs?

I have a video card on my computer with an S video output what is it for?

I have an old sony video cam HI8. It also has an S video input can I connect them some how to import that old HI8 tape into my computer?|||S-Video is simply a higher video quality than VGA or DVI. The S Video on your camcorder is most likely there so that you can hook it up to a tv and display/record to a vcr or DVD burner if you have one. While it is possible for camcorders to hook up to computers for importing video, you need the proper connections and software to do that. As for your video card itself...the S Video port on there is for output only to a monitor with S Video support. Most video cards do not come with any type of input port.|||mine has that too.

Its completely possible that your video card has an HDMI connector, they do exist.... pretty rare right now, but they'll get more and more popular in the future. Most new video cards have two connectors, two DVI, two VGA, or one of each.|||Something like:

The first and second are DVI, albeit there's some mode difference; the third is a precursor to DVI but I doubt this is case, Apple Display Connector.

HD video output in Graphics Card? what for?

in the graphics card there is one black round called "HD video output." where do i plug it? this is not for PC monitors is it?

Thanks !!|||HD output is so that you can connect you HD compatible PC ( which i think your is) To an HDTV or A HD Monitor|||No it's for HD DVD palyback on a TV. The card usually comes with the cables for this.

I have never seen a 1280 X 768.

And the resolutions are usually 1360 or 1366 X 768 and larger screens are 1920 X 1080.

You will have to look in the TV manual and see what resolution is specified.|||The HD output is so you can run a high definition (HD) from your computer to your TV.

If do do decide to run a connection from your computer to your HD TV, remember to have your resolution settings set to 1280x768, or it could mess up your TV.

Some flat screen monitors have the dvi or hdmi (HD) type plug-ins now. but you should still have the option of using the standard monitor cable (VGA) for your computer to monitor connection.

1280X768 is the standard resolution of all HD TVs

Look in your HD TV manual and it will tell you to be sure to set the computer to TV resolution to no higher than 1280x768.

For older non HD TVs this is not an issue.

Is it okay to use a higher ampere output to a video card?

I already have a power supply which outputs @ 25A. The graphics card im looking at requires 18A on the 12V rail.

Is it alright to use that power supply for the graphics card, as long as it is AT LEAST 18A?|||Absolutely. In fact, having more power available than needed is something you really want to have for a video card.

Can I use two different video cards?

I have an Nvidia 8800GT graphics card, but I want to hook my computer up to an old tv. I also have an old ati graphics card with s-video out. I was wondering if I could put it in my computer so I can output to my tv, but still keep the benefits of my new card...Anybody know if this is possible?|||8800 GT is a great card. Depending on your input (VGA or DVI) you can easily find an adapter.

Are there any 250 watt video cards with 1920x1080 resolution?

I need a video card that can support 1920 by 1080 resolution to go with my widescreen monitor. My computer has a 250 watt output.|||1st upgrade your Power supply to 400W+

2nd get something like a 8600GT

With a 250W PSU your running old school. Either go with the two steps above or get a 6400GS. Crappy video card for a crappy computer.

Can I use two video cards without CrossfireX or SLI?

If I have two video cards exactly the same(two DVI-D ports each) and I want to run four monitors(Three using DVI-D to HDMI Adapters and one just straight DVI-D), how do I do that? I know CrossfireX and SLI only display output on the primary card, so I can't use those methods. Does Windows (I will be using Win7 32bit Pro if that matters) auto-detect the second card? Would I need active adapters?|||you can set any number of cards as long as your motherboard supported ,it's entirely OS Independable but still some old OSs and most of Linux distributions won't recognize them but only one.if you on Windows 7 then it doesn't matter you can still set 4 graphic cards without having SLI cross fire but you can't get the performance of multiple graphic card in that case ,also you need to use Multiple Monitors according amount of your graphic cards.

but try to install the latest drivers.then you are fine.

CrossfireX (ATI) and SLI (nVidia) ONLY need if you want performance of multiple graphic cards ,and it uses single monitor but multiple graphic cards.|||Crossfire and SLI is only needed to get two video cards working together to produce one image. If your goal is just to run four monitors, then you just install both cards and be done with it.

I have installed a internal TV Tuner card . I can hear the sound clearly but not able to see any video output?

I have installed a internal TV tuner card & using a software from TVR.

I can hear the sound clearly but not able to see any video output.

I tried the latest version of software still facing the issue.

Could anyone please help me in resolving this issue.

Your quick help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.|||You haven't said what OS you are using. I guess it is Windows but Vista or XP. I wonder!

You haven't said what make/model of TV tuner card. I wonder what it is. Is it Hauppage? No, I don't know.

You haven't said what TVR software you are using. No, I can't guess that either.

Ah well, I tried.

Can two SLI video cards be used for 4 separate monitors to output 4 different screens and not one big screes?

I bought 4 monitors which I am putting on a Quad Monitor Mount (two monitors on top of 2). I want each screen to be separated from one another so that when i drag one window to the other screen and maximize it, it only take up the whole space of that particular screen only.

I bought 2 identical SLI video cards. I just learned that SLI allows systems to utilize the power of two identical video cards for a single output display. I think the single output display is not what I want. If that is the case, can these two SLI video cards be used as I mentioned? If so, how can I set it up? Do I not link them together with whatever the cable given to connect them?|||Just put them both into the mobo and DO NOT USE SLI (just do not use the SLI cable) and everything will be good.|||yes. but you can't run the cards in SLI.|||You are exactly right. Just don't set them up in SLI configuration. Don't connect the SLI cable and do not configure SLI. They will then act as two separate video cards, each with no problem controlling two monitors.

I think, but I'm not sure, you can connect the SLI bridge but disable SLI. That will allow you to enable SLI (from the nVidia control panel) when you want to play heavy 3D games and get the extra power.

Are there any video cards that have a coxial output for a regular tv with sound?

Does anyone know of a video card with a coaxial output that would work with a regular tv and put out sound? Or of another way of doing it?|||you can do it with S Video.. normally all video cards come with s video out for connecting your PC to TV.

PC video cards and HDMI?

Are there any video cards that have hdmi output that will output video and audio?

I recently bout the Geforce 9500GT and i was forced to buy dvi to hdmi converter but come to

find out I still need another wire. I want a card to do it all with one hdmi cable...|||Your 9500GT -can- send the audio over the HDMI cable by utilizing the sound card already installed on your motherboard. To do this, there's a 2-pin wire -- one end plugs into the card, and the other end plugs into the SPDIF audio header on your motherboard (see my source).

If your video card didn't include this cable, they can be found on ebay for next to nothing. Just search for: nvidia audio cable.

Otherwise, all ATI Radeon cards have integrated Realtek audio on their cards, and do not require any wires.|||All of ATI's newer Radeon cards (4000 and 5000 series) which have an HDMI port carry both audio and video.

For example, this Radeon 4650 has a built-in HDMI port. It's also slightly faster than a GeForce 9500GT.

I have a VGA to composite RCA/S-video cable, but its output is static. How can I make it work?

I have attempted to reduce my resolution and play with my graphics card settings, and nothing has seemed to result in an improvement. I dont have an S-video cable so i've been using the yellow composite video cable. If you have anything that can fix this please tell me.|||S-Video 4 pin provides luminance and chrominance. 7 pin also includes RGB. VGA has RGB. You might need a VGA to composite video conversion box.

Does my Video Card on my laptop support digital signal output?

I want to buy a vga to hdmi cable so i can hook up my laptop to my hdtv. The laptop has the VGA output whilst the tv has the HDMI output. I found a cable on eBay which can connect both together however one thing the seller told me to note was...

"Your Video card must support digital signal output through VGA port function"

I found out what my video card is: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, and so tried to do some research into whether it supports digital signal output but am unable to identify whether it does or doesnt.

Please can someone help me find out?

I have fouund this webpage which has info about the card but still couldnt figure it out

http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon-Xpress-200M.2175.0.html|||Even if you got a convertor cable; it will still be in VGA format, not HDMI.

If you don't have a DVI/HDMI port on your laptop - you can only use the VGA output to display content on a TV etc - and only then, just the image.

DVI/HDMI supports both audio/video on the same cable; looks like you might have to update your laptop.

What Video Cards Support Triple Monitor Setup?

I'm building a system to support a triple monitor setup.

I notice many 5000 Series cards have 2x DVI + 1x MINI HDMI outputs.

Can I use all three simultaneously?|||Certain HD5000-series cards do support triple monitors, but you CANNOT use 2X DVI and 1X HDMI to drive triple monitors on the HD5000-series.

The third monitor MUST be connected to the DisplayPort jack on the graphics card for triple monitors to work. i.e. the third monitor NEEDS to have a DisplayPort input.

EDITED TO ADD:

To convert the DisplayPort jack to DVI or HDMI, you will need an Active dongle, and those things are NOT cheap. (We are talking $100+). It would be more economical to just make sure the third monitor you are buying has a DisplayPort jack.

.

Dual Video Output, each of both showing different software?

I need a setup whereby I have two monitors showing two different software simultaneously. Specifically, I need to work on a program (POS or Word or Excel), while the other video shows a powerpoint slideshow (or media program of some sort). These two software totally independent of each other. Any suggestions? Via a special VGA card and sw?|||you need a video card with dual outputs, then go into your desktop settings and click to extend the desktop to the second monitor, then when you open a program you can drag it to the other monitor, essentially running a program on each monitor. thats what i do for my web design work. i have my dreamweaver open on one screen and the page open in ie on the other monitor so i can check my progress.

if you dont want to buy a dual head video card, you can get something from http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/corpo/… that will work

How do I recover information on a desk top cpu now that my video output does not work?

I could add a seperate video card, but need to upgrade power supply too. So instead Im buying a new cpu. Now the question is how to recover what is on the old hard drive...docs., photos, video and more. Can I connect the old cpu to my new one and drag everything over? What is the best way to accomplish this task?|||simply u can connect ur old hard drive with another computer and copy all the important things or make it on dvds|||If you are using the same motherboard (hence, the same socket), you do not need to format the hard disk, you can just take the data away.

What you can also do is hook up your hard drive to another pc, with that manner, the PC will not boot from your old hard drive, instead on his normal hard drive. Then u find the data, just transfer it to the other hard drive.

In a nutshell, connect old Hard drive to another pc, take the data out from it.|||You should be able to put your old hard drive on the new computer. Most of the time there is space and if not you can make space temporarily by unplugging a cd rom or something and plugging the old hard drive in place of that. And there is normally a button it lets you hit so you can boot from whichever device. :p

usually F2 or F6 :p

How do I use my tv or dvr with my computer and the s-video output port on my graphics card?

I have a geforce 5700 FX with DVI, VGA, and S-video output. The VGA output is currently being used for my monitor. I found an S-video cable and I thought I could connect it to my dvr, and hence my tv, but nothing happens when I do so.

do I need to enable the S-video output port with some software setting?|||Check your display settings, if it is capable you should be able to change it there (I am not familiar with this card). Also you can check with Nvidia for more support.

If all else fails a PC to TV convertor (like KWorld's) will convert the VGA signal so it can be viewed on your monitor and TV at the same time via S-video or RCA. Nifty gadget, I use one to put karaoke song lyrics running on my computer to the TV.|||First, our understanding for s-video output port on your graphic card is only a output.

Second, your TV or DVR must set to S-video mode in order to recevie input.

Third, your graphics card must come with the software, in order you to project image out to external output.|||Install a TV Tuner Card, all your problems will be solve.

Can you get a PCMCIA video card with output ?

Does anybody know if you can get a PCMCIA video card for a laptop that will let me play videos from computer to tv, (like with rca or s-video outputs) I've got a converter to do it but the cords are a bit messy...|||See this:

Can I install 2 different video cards on my HTPC?

I'm going to use the PCIE 2.0x16 slot for a decent graphics card.

I have PCIEx1 and PCI slots left. Can I install a video card that can output s-video into one of these slots?

Then can I like turn either on and off depending on where I want to send the video?

Thanks.!|||no, PCIEx 2.0 and PCIEx 1.0 video-cards are incompatible.|||They will conflict, and neither will probably work.

Is there any way to reverse the video output on your computer video card?

because i have 2 video cards...and one of them has like a Video and S-Video output...how can i reverse that to like record something off of like a dvd player?...or something that has a video or s-video output?|||I don't think you can make a video out into a video in. Buy a tv card or something like that.

I want to install a video card with 2 outputs?

My computer currently has an Intel video card with 1 output. It is connected to the motherboard, and therefore, I cannot remove it. My question is this:

Can I get a video card with 2 outputs, and connect it to the expansion slot? And if so, will I now have 3 outputs, or will the original card disable itself?

Thank you,

Spencer C.|||First of all, when you put in your 3rd party video card, you will have to disable your onboard for the 3rd party card to work. Only one will work at a time. So your answer would be that you would only have 2 slots rather than 3.

To check what slot you have for the videocard, just open the side of your computer up, and match your slot to any of the other ones. a quick google image or yahoo image of the slots would work.

The names of the slots are:

PCI

PCI express x16

AGP

AGP 4x/8x

PCI express 2.0 is the same as the x16. the only difference is that if your motherboard supports the 2.0, then 2.0 version videocards will run better. You will have to contact your motherboard manufacturer to tell if your motherboard supports PCI express 2.0.

Regarding disabling the original card, you MIGHT have to do it manually. Some motherboards do not automatically disable the onboard card to support the 3rd party card. All you have to do is when you restart your computer, once you see the boot screen, press the given code to access your BIOS. It is usually f10, or delete.|||Just from your question alone, I recommend not. Find someone who can look over your computer and use proper terminology. Maybe take it to best buy. I'd really hate for you to buy the wrong thing or install it wrong, just because you don't really sound like you are sure you know what you are talking about.|||Yes you can install a different video card and yes it will be your only video output. It will come with drivers that will tell the system that it is now the video output device.

You realize that you also have the option to just buy a "Y" adapter and use the video board you already have and still have two outputs?

Can someone recommend a good PCI Video card that has an HDMI output? Not PCI-E?

I'd like to be able to play 1080P videos so I need at least 512 memory, unfortunately I only have PCI slots. For sure need HDMI output for HDTV.

Thanks|||It is fairly easy to find a cable on Ebay that has DVI and audio connectors on one end and HDMI on the other. This means any 512mb video card with a DVI output ( I'm probably sure you could find a cable with a VGA 15 pin connector instead) can be used in conjunction with the standard audio output of the computer to hook directly into the HDMI port of your HDTV. As far as 512 cards for PCI, they are out there. I found several on Ebay. Several from different vendors on a Google search. Should be do-able for most novice techies anyhow. Hope this eases the task a little.|||I've bought video cards and such off Newegg. Here is a link for PCI cards:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

Nice thing about a site like this is that they have a rating from other people so you can get an idea of how the cards perform from other people that have bought them. The first thing you want to do when installing or upgrading a video card is to make sure you have an adequate power supply. One with enough wattage. Most of the older computers came with pretty weak power supplies. I had a HP Pentium 3 years ago and I put a PCI card in it. Wasn't even that powerful a card. But the computer started shutting off. Turns out the power supply that came with the computer wasn't powerful enough to run with a graphics card in it. I put a more powerful power supply in with more wattage and it was fine after that.

Pci video card with s-video output

hi all i have a HP Compaq Desktop D530 Ultra-Slim....i want to connect it to my crt tv......i am looking for a decent video card with s-video output that would fit my computer....i am looking for a pci card....thats about 4-5 inchs inchs in depth....or is there anyother way i can connect my pc to my crt tv???let me know thanx|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

This card has an s-video output for 29.99. Or, if you open up your computer an look at your motherboard, you can see whay slots you have. It will usually say on the motherboard, "pci express," or "pci." |||depending on your comp, you will need either an AGP card or a PCI Express card. They are all standard, so don't worry about the size. You will have to disable the onboard video that is built into the HP. Usually a BIOS switch, or just by pulling the card out if it's not integrated into the motherboard.

There are also USB video cards.

Have my Tv hooked up on S-video output on my video card and when I start a full screen game the TV goes blank?

I want to have a full screen game on my monitor and a movie on my TV from the S-video but if I am playing a movie on my TV then start a full screen game the TV goes blank. Its weird a window can be open on the monitor and the tv works fine but its when you do anything full screen on the monitor the TV goes blank.

Thanks for any help|||In the game configuration set the screen resolution to match your TV. Check your video card's manual.|||That's just the way the video card works, you can't run a fullscreen video on the TV and a fullscreen game on your monitor - just the nature of the beast.

Video card with TV output only?

Does HDMI output on a computer have video and audio?

I want to purchase a laptop to hook up to my TV to watch the internet over my TV. Will an HDMI output on the computer give me voice and audio across my TV speakers? Will the laptop need a special graphics or video card to accomplish this?|||HDMI includes audio.

If the laptop has a HDMI socket then you are good to go.

How can I output/stream my computer's video to the USB port?

I got a cable that connects USB to TV (usb to the yellow/white/red TV input, RCA). I want to stream my computer video (monitor) to the USB port, without any hardwares or video cards. Is there a software to output my video to the USB? Or is there a way to do it in WinXP? So basically, I want to use my TV as the monitor, using this USB-to-RCA cable. Help pls!|||First off, no, there is no way to port the video output to the USB port.

Second, if you plan on using the TV as a monitor and you use the RCA inputs, you'll wish you didn't. The resolution will be horrible. The RCA inputs are analog, and don't even support 640x480 resolution. Everything will be blurry.

Now, aside from that, yes there is a way to output the video to the TV from the video card. Adapters to do so go for about $50 retail.

Hope that helps.

Graphics card has a video output, is it better than using a monitor?

I am building a gaming PC. The graphics card I got has a video output, actually it has two. This is so I can use a television instead of a monitor right? So would it be better for gaming if I bought a large TV rather than a monitor, especially as monitors above 21" become ridiculously expensive.

Will a good TV match the resolution on modern monitors?|||No, monitors can produce higher resolutions than average TV's|||Not unless it's HD. Monitors are naturally designed to handle the HD output from a computer. If you get a tube TV or anything besides HD, the pixels will blur and the small text will be VERY hard to read.

I've hooked up my laptop to a TV many times, and I can't read the text from my games.|||If it's svideo then no. Almost all Monitors have higher resolution than standard definition TVs and are progressive. Standard definition TVs are interlaced.|||No it is not a good option in my opinion, because there is a big difference in resolutions between TV and monitor.I've tried using a TV instead of monitor but the image is always "blurry".|||A good TV wouldn't match the resolution of a cheap monitor.

An amazing TV wouldn't match the resolution of a cheap monitor, either.|||get one of the higher end plasma tvs then maybe it may be good or else it is better to stick to a monitor|||its imposible to get your tv to look better than your computer monitor even if it was a hdtv,i should know because i hooked my computer to my hdtv and the video quality was horrible.graphics cards are really not designed to run on interlaced tv's they try to fool you into believing it is but its not.|||No, monitor will not help you as the resolution of tv can never be more than a monitor. What kind of video card to output to a 25" television?

I want to use a 25" television as a monitor. Do they make video cards with coaxial outputs or do I need an adapter?|||Any card which has an S video out port.

. Generally all TV sets have an S-video input port.. So in short you just need to buy a S-video cable and a card which has an inlet for the cable :)..

Does my video card support vga output?

Looking at my system information, it says the following:

Name: NVIDA GeForce Go 6150

Adapter type: GeForce Go 6150, NVIDIA compatible

Adapter RAM: 128.00 MB

Installed Drivers: nvd3dum.dll

Driver Version: 7.15.10.9759

INF File: oem2.inf (nv_C51M section)

Resolution: 1280 x 800 x 59 hertz

Bits/Pixel: 32

I hope this is enough information. The reason I ask this question is because I purchased a VGA to HDMI cable to connect my notebook to my HDTV and I have been unable to do so. My notebook says that an external display is connected, but there's no picture on my tv. Therefore, I'm wondering if my video card is unable to output a picture through the VGA port on my computer.

Thank you!|||No it can't.|||if your graphic card has HDMI port it means it has video output, if no it means not.

Good Luck

Can someone recommend a video card? Need 3 display output.?

I need a PCI Express video card that can output to 3 displays simultaneously. My current card has 3 outputs but will only generate 2 video signals at once. The exact outputs don't matter, one will go to a 1080p TV, so hdmi would be good. The other 2 will go to monitors, so dvi would be preferred but VGA would work too.

My main priority is to be able to output 3 signals for as cheap as possible. Other stuff isn't as important, it's going in a 4 year old machine so performance isn't a huge priority, anything on the market now will exceed the other specs

Thanks!|||I would possibly reccomend a radeon 5000 series, They range from £100 to very expencive :P

a radeon 5670 could do the trick.

Radeon cards boast being able to hook up 3 monitors at the same time and can be used all for 1 game if you wish. But the 5670 has 2 HDMI and 1 DVI port on it.|||I'm with PJ on this one the radeon 5000 series is definitely worth it's way in gold. I've included the website that can answer any question that you may have on this card. Hope this helps!|||if you don't mind doing a little research

here's a nice chart on multiple monitors

Can I run dual monitors on my PC with one video card that has VGA and DVI output?

I just bought a new monitor and I am trying to extend my desktop across them both. I currently have an ATI 9700 AGP gfx card and tried installing a second card (an old Voodoo3 PCI) and running each monitor on its own card. I am having trouble with that, so now I am just considering buying a new card (Leadtek WinFast A7600GT probably) in hopes that it will solve my problems.

I just want to make sure I can run the dual monitors off that new card if I do purchase it.

Or if anybody has any recommendations on making the cards that I have now work? Computer recognizes them both, sets the AGP ATI card as primary and works on one monitor. But whenever I go to settings in my display controls and try to enable the 2nd monitor on the voodoo3, my computer freezes and crashes.|||The 7600GT will have dual monitor support.

My guess is that the old drivers for the Vodoo 3 are causing the crash.

I didn't know anyone still had one of the Vodoo 3's. :)|||YES and it is wonderful!!!, the only problem is that you have to buy an adapter (DVI to VGA) for a monitor if it only has VGA.

My video card is on, but monitor doesn't output?

I'm assembling a computer. My motherboard is an ASUS m4a77td and my video card is Asus-nvidia en9400gt.

I connected everything. I connected my LCD samsung monitor via the VGA connector. When i turn on the computer, i see that the video card fan is spinning, but my monitor does not give me a picture. The monitor is definitely on and works on other computers. Did I miss a step?|||Not sure, but jst because the fan spins doesn't necessarily mean the motherboard is 100% active. Wrong connections may cause it to stop working. See if the MB is POSTing|||First check your cable and connections.

I've had Samsung monitor did the same thing. It just wouldn't display.

I managed to work by updating the graphics driver to the latest version. Otherwise the monitor maybe dodgy. I've also returned one monitor and got a replacement.

No video output from new video card?

recently bought a used Radeon 6950, but when I connect the hdmi cable theres no output, or any other cables for video, the tv does recognize the hdmi cable was connected but no video, could it be that my 550w psu isnt enough for this card and my pc or a defective video card?

Would like t know b4 contacting the seller, thank yuo.|||The 6950 requires a 500w power supply ( http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/g… ) so you are OK there.

Have you installed the drivers for this video card? If not, then there's your problem. Use the above link and click on the "Support" tab to get the latest driver.|||Power consumption under load for 6950 is 256W, so it might be borderline, but probably ok.|||Try extending computer out to the tv. Does vga work? Maybe you should install the ati controller or panel so you can have more control over the video card.|||Were you using integrated motherboard graphics prior to installing the HD 6950? If so, disable it in BIOS, because it's probably STILL set as your primary display output, and still outputting video.

Can i obtain dual monitors with 2 different video cards?

my video card only has 1 output but i have another computer with a video card i am not using, can i use that one to obtain dual monitors on 1 computer? thanks|||only if your motherboard has multiple graphics card slots, however by the sound of your system (graphics cards with single output are old) and your knowledge of it (most people who have motherboards with multiple graphics card slots would know it), i would highly doubt it. if your motherboard has onboard graphics, you can also use that for a second monitor.

Can a dual video card setup (2 pci express cards) output a quad-monitor display?

i am considering a quad monitor display for real-time stock monitoring and trading....just wondering whether 2 non-workstation cards (ie. ati x1650 pro) can be used in sli for a quad display or do i need to get a workstation card such as the FireMV 2400???|||yes. I think you should be able to do this.|||I am not sure, but another option you might want to consider (knowing that workstation cards are expensive) is buying a very large monitor (i have a 27 inch) it is actually a TV, and you can get very high resolutions, enough to where you can have four screens on one monitor and be fine.

Recommend two DVI video cards?

I have a GeForce FX 5700 Nvidia video card, two DVI output, 256mb of memory running on two 24 inch Dell monitors that support 90 degree rotation. The video card also supports this rotation. I want to upgrade the card, but it has to support rotation.|||Pretty much any decent video card these days can support portrait-display modes.

The trick is finding an AGP one, because most good video cards these days are PCI Express, not AGP. Since the FX5700 is an AGP card, I'm assuming you want an AGP card to replace it.

I would go for something like the ATI HD3650 AGP: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

ATI's Catalyst drivers have been supporting portrait-mode screen rotation since the Windows XP days.

The ATI HD3000-series are the only current GPUs available in AGP format. nVidia totally stopped making AGP cards after the 7000-series two years ago.

How can I make my motherboards onboard VGA output video even though my video card is installed?

I have learned that my video card only outputs 2 video signals, even though it has 2 DVI outputs and an Svideo. This is a problem because I like running two monitors (one for what I'm working on and one to have my email inbox up on, or music, or a video), and I just got a new TV. I would like to be able to stream videos from my computer to my TV, but am not willing to sacrifice running two monitors.

I did notice that my motherboard has a built in VGA output. Can I hook my second monitor up to that (doesn't need to be high quality or anything) and then hook my main monitor and TV up to my video card? I have it hooked up that way now and my main monitor and TV are working great, it's just the second monitor is not picking up a signal from the motherboard VGA out.

What should I do? Some settings I need to fiddle with? Any other solutions?

Thanks!|||You can try finding a splitter cable to see if that will work|||I think the mobo video is disabled when you plug a video card in! Maybe invest in another cheap computer or fit two video cards?

Is DVI out on Video Cards similar to the DVI out on camcorders?

I have seen the specifications of some PC Video cards that have DVI out. Are these like the DVI outputs on camcorders? Do they carry voice and video?

Can someone suggest a good such video card in the 100-200 price range?

Can these be connected to a video recorder that has DVI input and transfer both sound and video?|||DVI only carries video, not audio. When using a DVI video output you will need a seperate audio output. HDMI is format to carry both. Or the standard connects like component/composite cables.

onequesti0n|||DVI is to hook up to digital flat screen monitors

it would depend on what kind of cam you have ..but I don't think they hook up the same

your best bet would be to get a video card with s-video out on it

Hdmi output doesnt work with new video card?

i have a gateway dx-4200 and it has a hdmi output. i just installed a new ati radeon 4550 and now my computer will not output on anything besides this graphics card. my computer comes with a ati 3200 that is embedded i think... i want to use my hdmi outputs how do i get my computer to recognize both things?|||your stuffed.. take the new card out..|||you don't... when you install a graphics card of any kind it is designed to override the on-board video completely, This is part of the mother board design and it doesn't matter if its a custom build or not... its been this way ever the invention of pci type video cards for the purpose of preventing both too much power being drawn and the risk of a surge to the PC... along with making things look that much better. If what you want is HDMI I guess the question I would need answered is what precisely are you doing so I can try to come up with a viable answer.

How can I output video from pc?

Hi all,I have installed a new graphic card (Nvidia 7600GT) and I would like to output the video from my pc to the TV. Dual VGA output video card with windows vista software drivers?

Ok I need to run an overhead projector with a VGA input and a monitor at the desktop . The problem I am having is the most ATI cards have a VGA/DVI/S-vid output and that will not work even with a DVI to VGA converter it only makes the extended video the same as the desktop and not a seperate monitor. No video output from computer any ideas?

i just finished building my computer and everything seems to start up fine but i am getting no video output also my fan on my videocard is coming on i also tried the onboard video with the card disconnected so...any ideas?|||In general, as a 'safety' feature, a computer will not display a graphics output if something is not connected correctly.

Check your connections (a favourite with the older style IDE connection for hard drives or floppy drives was people connecting them upside down.

Go over each of the connections, check your RAM is inserted correctly, and the same with any expansion cards. Having attached the heatsink to the processor you don't want to remove it if you can help it. Also check under the motherboard for any possibility of short circuiting (ie a mounting post that does not match up with a mounting hole in your motherboard).

What you may have to do is remove all components and connectors except the CPU and RAM and start again, connecting one item at a time.

If when you have just the CPU and RAM connected (and of course the monitor) if you are still not getting a signal, you may have to remove the CPU heatsink and check that the CPU is seated correctly. If you do remove the heatsink you will have to clean the heat transfer paste from both the CPU and the heatsink (be very careful with this, there are many guides on the Internet for how to do this safely and I can't take responsibility for your actions with your equipment), then apply new heat transfer paste. You should never re-use the paste that is on the heatsink as you will not get a good transfer again and you MUST NEVER run the computer without heat transfer paste between the CPU and the heatsink.

NO VGA OUTPUT(when I install a new video card)!!!!?

S-video output from video card to TV (monitor is widescreen but TV isn't!)?

I'm using an nVidia card (FX5200 I believe) with S-Video output, with a converter to RCA plugged into a VCR. The problem is that the computer monitor is a widescreen (native resolution 1440x900), and I have it set up so both monitor and TV show the same thing (except when videos are playing on the monitor, it shows up full screen on the TV). But since the display is widescreen on both, there's a panning going on on the TV, where it can't show the entire desktop display all at once. Is there any way to force it to stretch width-wise or force letterboxes on the TV display? Can't find anything relevant in the nVidia control panel. Thanks and happy holidays!|||Unfortunately, it cannot be done.

A TV is limited to 1024x768 resolution with S-video. There is no way you can force it to display 1440x900 through S-video because 1) the S-video connection can't handle it, and 2) your TV probably can't handle it either if it's an old CRT set.

If you have a newer HDTV with HDMI or VGA ports, those are MUCH BETTER than S-Video for connecting to a computer, especially HDMI (which can be connected to a video card's DVI port with a DVI-to-HDMI cable, and can go all the way up to 1920x1080 as long as the TV can handle it).

IIs it possible to play a game on the monitor and watch a video onTV from my S-video output on my Video CARD?

I bought a new video card that allows me to hook up my computer to my TV through S-Video.This allows me a few options to use my TV for.I can duplicate everything on the monitor to be on the TV,or I can set it to extend my monitor making my desktop extend out the right side of the monitor, once it crosses over the right side of the monitor it comes out the left side of the TV,and the other setting is to make the TV a completely differrent screen. Now obviously the first 2 settings will not work to let you have a full screen game going on the monitor and a full screen movie on the TV.But the third setting(TV is a completely different screen ) I think should work but whenever I turn a game on full screen on the monitor the TV goes blank .Why does the TV go blank wheneve I turn a fullscreen game on.

Thanks

Dave|||You have to check the manufactures website regarding the capabilities of your video card. When using the TV output most video cards do not allow simultaneous use of the monitor. A lot of high-end video cards will.|||That's just the way the video card works, you can't run a fullscreen video on the TV and a fullscreen game on your monitor - just the nature of the beast.

Can I run BOTH my dvi output AND my S-video output from my GeForce 6800 without turning off my monitor?

I am trying to record online game play in World of Warcraft to make music videos and such. I want to use the monitor to run the game, and just record what is happening on the burner. Is there any way i can use the output from both?|||yes, you should be able to adjust to use two monitors in the display settings. Try pulling the card out and reseating it.|||Does it have different outputs?, like an S video connector if so try using that, the card might be configured to use the different output and you'll need to change it, but there's not much you can do with no video at all. Also does it have a secondary power connector, some video cards take a lot of power and need a

second connector from the power supply. Or it may just be a bad card. Good luck|||you can try to get the correct driver file if it is showing up in hardware. Can you put 2 video cards in a pc for dual monitor etc?

ok, my mother board comes with a vga out, but it shuts off when i put an agp video card in. why can't i use both? if I had a pci video card instead could I get dual monitor with my motherboard's output? or will I need to have both my agp card and pci card in for dual monitor? It seems foolish that since my motherboard has a video (processer?) output, and i also have a video card with an output, that I can't use both of these with 2 monitors. can't I change the fact that that port shuts off when an agp card is inserted?|||I'm not sure because I don't exactly know what you mean by dual monitor...

if you want to have like a monitor and a big screen showing what your monitor is showing then you can get a dongle, or a new video card. most newer ones support more than a single output.

But, If you want to have your moniter to work on and a tv to watch a movie on off your pc than you're gonna either need to buy an expensive video card to replace yours, or buy a pci video card for cheap and take out your AGP video card. having just a pci video card in shoudn't shut down your integrated one on your Mobo (i like that).

But as someone already stated, this could eat up more of your cpu. well i shouldn't say "could", it will.|||Sounds like your powersupply doesn't have enough oomph to run the card and the rest of the computer, check the instruction manual and documentation that came with the card. My ATI needed about 350 and it was an AGP card. Make sure your powersupply runs about 450 or more watts. Do you have an AGP card with a port for an LCD monitor? You can by a part that'll make it an analog for use with a CRT monitor, then you can have dual monitors that way :)|||well, some video cards come with two sets of outputs, so you could run two from one card, ATi has the crossfire system that uses two video cards together for better graphics performance where you could use two monitors. My ATi Radeon 200 built-in GPU chip supports two monitors, but has one VGA, the other is a composite output. It works. See if you have that.

I 'think' the reason why the VGA from the comp GPU shuts down is because the comp is sensing the AGP card and shutting down the internal GPU system since it is rather inefficient, and some are really using the CPU power.|||That depends. What type of computer is it? More specifically what kind of motherboard is it? Depending on the card, you can run a dual moniter setup with only one video card but without knowing what kind of processing power you've got and what kind of motherboard you have there is no way to know if your sytem is capable of running a dual montier setup. Also, I'm sure you know this but make sure you're plugging the moniter into the video card directly as opposed to the integrated vid off the mobo. One last thing, if you want to run dual moniters off of one card you will need to get a dongle. It's like a Y where the bottom goes into your video card and the top part that splits go into your two moniter cables.|||The motherboard would be unable to determine which video adapter to send video signals if there are 2 active video adapters.

When the motherboard senses a video card in the AGP slot, it automatically disables the built-in video adapter since the video card in the AGP slot would most probably be the better and more capable video adapter.

Having 2 active video adapter would also place a heavy processing load on the motherboard as the video signals may be unbalanced due to the video adapters' different capabilities. Although video processing is handled by chip on video adapters, the motherboard still has to transfer signals to and from different components.

For dual monitor display, a video card that can output to 2 monitors is required.|||Most new agp cards are dual head and have software that allow you to use both, Radeon are good, but you may need an adaptor for one of the sockets|||definitely not, but u can use videocards with dual outputs, which have 2 VGA or 1 VGA & 1 Composite outputs...

Can I hook up a video output device (doc-cam, etc) to a computer and split it across 2 screens?

I'm trying to hook up the output image of a document camera (Elmo P10) across 2 screens (half of the image on the left screen; half on the right screen). I'm not quite sure how to do that. Is there a video capture card that will accept this output and then display it onto a dual-monitor system?|||It's up to your video card and driver. Check the documentation, else, you'll have to buy another video card, mine is an nVidia 6200 and does that.|||yes you can split the video into two screens provided it is supported by your video card, the type of software used.

Go through the manual. There is a PNY graphic card which will support this feature.|||just install right software and visit download.com.|||take two video out puts and plug one in each.|||To output the video to different displays your video card must have multi-display feature.check documentation or manufacturer's website for more info about your card.mine card is nvidia 6200 tc and it have nView technology which supports multi monitors.|||Yes, this is doable, if your graphics card allows for it. Do as the others suggest and check your documentation, or call the manufacturer. If it doesn't support this then you may want to consider purchasing a new card that does and exchanging it with the one you currently have. This is not a difficult task to do, but if you don't have the proper experiance feel free to call for help, like your local "geeks squad". These folks are easily found in the phone book or online.

Good luck in getting this setup properly in your system. It is a lot of fun!!

Level of video card required for HDMI output to LCD TV?

I know this question has been asked in various forms but I need to pose it more specifically for my use. I already output to my LCD TV with no problem. I'm putting together a HTPC. As far as video I want the best chance of watching online TV such as HULU in flawless fullscreen (as Possible) and other HD streaming video from say Quicktime. I know 3d specs are not important but what is? GPU? Memory? What specs are most important for what I want to do with the card. I would spend $200.00 if it improves quality but it seems you're spending more money for 3D performance not 2D i.E. online video. Am I correct in saying most current HD cards are about the same for my uses?

Thanks,

What does "overclocked" mean when talking about video cards?

I have been shopping for a video card for my Dell 531s slim Desktop so I can run dual monitors. I am not a gamer. I keep seeing the term "overclocked"...what does this mean? In layman's terms please.

Also, if you know, what video card would you recommend for me to buy so I can run dual monitors just for general web browsing? My motherboard only has one monitor output so I need one more which I suppose means I need to buy a video card. thanks|||You know how processor speeds are measured in Ghz? That's the "clock speed" of the processor.

Like right now, my computer is running on a 3 Ghz processor.

Basically, overclocking is making the something run at a higher "clock speed" than it's supposed to. I could set my computer to run at 3.15 Ghz if I wanted to and see some slight performance increase.

A video card is the same thing, it's also a processor. Overclocking it is basically making it run at a faster speed than it was originally designed for, so that it gets better performance.

That's all there it to it really.

Perhaps another thing I should mention. The only drawback to doing this is that it produces more heat. But an overclocked video card will usually come equipped with a bigger fan to compensate for it.|||Overlocking means running a graphics card, processor or RAM at higher frequency than intended. This almost always void warrantry's and for large overclocks you need a special cooler to stop it from overheating (its dangerous if you do not know what you are doing).

For example if I have a core i7 920 processor, which runs at 2.66GHz normally, and I overclock it to 2.8 GHz, i did an overclock of 140 MHz. The processor will now run faster so calculate data faster, but also produce more heat.

The same can be done with graphics cards but these are more risky (coolers are usually very bad). You can overclock the Memory speed (sort of RAM for the video card), the core speed (like the processor in the video card) and the shader speed.

Hope i helped!|||In layman's terms overclocking means increasing the speed of the device. When you see overclocked graphics cards for sale, that just means the manufacturer decided to do that. So your warranty will not be void because of this.

Usually graphics cards with dual output will allow you to use multiple monitors.

Why doesn't my new graphics card output video?

I just built a new computer and have a 2gig graphics card. I believe it's the Radeon 6950 HD model. I have been using an HDTV as my monitor for the last couple of weeks until I got a regular monitor for Xmas. I had an hdmi cable from my motherboard slot plugged into the tv. Well now this monitor I got doesn't have hdmi so I have to use either VGA or DVI. I plugged dvi into my graphics card slot as my motherboard doesn't have dvi option and the monitor just says no signal input, going to sleep. I have no clue what is going on. I installed the drivers that came with the monitor and got nothing. My graphics card drivers are also up to date. Please don't tell me that my graphics card is bad because that is not the case. It's brand new and runs video games just fine. It's just the video output seems to be disabled or something. Thanks in advance for any help|||The monitor may have a switch for choosing what input to use. Push it and select the DVI input.

Go into CMOS and check if there's a setting to choose between onboard video or video from an add on card. If your computer is set to use onboard video this may explain what you're seeing.

If your card requires an auxiliary power input verify this cable is plugged in and verify your power supply is big enough to supply the card.

Video card trouble, NVIDIA GeForce 9600GSO, no video output. need guidance/suggestions to fix.?

Small problem, was wondering if the wizards could help...

My brothers metal port covers came loose from the case and fell onto the videocard, so i fished them out with a paperclip. It was very easy to do but there was a small spark in the process. Now there is no video output from the board, but the monitor does recognize when you plug it in because the colour test bars disappear.

Would any one mind providing me with possible trouble shooting tips to repair this situation?

I kinda doubt that 1 spark could fry an entire board.

I've tried both video ports on the card, theres actually two geforce 9800s in the motherboard and all 4 ports are not displaying anything.

I tried it with another monitor too, tested that monitor as good using the same cord with another computer.

I have not tried another DVI to RGB adapter because i dont have one but i will try to pick another one up at radio shack when i can, but i feel doubtful thats the problem.

The computer boots fine and everything- all that happened was 1 tiny spark, and i know sparks this one was small.

thanks!|||People have fried $1,000 core i7 processors with sparks that are not even visible, simply from static electricity build up from wearing their favorite pair of blue jeans. I'm afraid you're outta luck this time. If your lucky, the computer was off when this occurred. Otherwise, your entire motherboard plus the dual 9800s could all be fried. Do yourself a favor and pick up a $10 anti-static wristband, or simply tap the power supply to ground yourself before trying this the next time.|||One tiny spark can easily fry a board.

Even an invisible spark can destroy a board.

Good luck.

Video Card output contacts are bent?

When I was switching around the placements of my NIC, Video Card, and Wireless Access card on my desktop, I had a little trouble figuring out how to unscrew one of the things connecting the monitor to the video card. I pulled it too early, and one half didn't pull out. So after I unscrewed it and pulled out the entire thing, one of the contacts was messed up on the video card output. Now when I boot it shows the Dell loading screen... a black page with the blinking white bar (much like the command center).... and then the Windows loading screen. After that It just goes black but I can hear my computer running. Is there anyway to fix this? Buying another video card isn't really an option right now...|||i agree with the other reply if you can see some things you should be able to see them all unless your video card isn't exactly the problem... but it sounds like you had your case opened for something, did you make any other changes (sometimes swapping which pci slot different addin cards are in can confuse the computer because sometimes the drivers are installed with a specific port so reinstalling the drivers or clearing cmos might help) if so you might want to try to undo those and see if that fixes it. also you mentioned that the pins where bent but on a video card the outputs don't have pins (there female connectors) so im going to assume you where talking about the cable going to the monitor, if so you should replace the cable and see if that helps... you can get them at radioshack, frys, bestbuy, and most other electronics stores for about 5 to $15... hope this helps|||Confused here... what are you saying? If you can see the Dell logo, and the windows loading screen then it sounds like your display is working fine... ?|||to me it dosent sound like a problem with the video card, it sounds like you may have not shut down your computer properly, next time you start you pc, start rapidly pressing the F8 key as soon as the dell logo disappears, if your timing is right this will give you a black screen with white text, it is the boot options screen for windows. use the arrow keys to highlight an option that say use last good known good configuration. see if that helps|||Buying a new graphics card is your best option. Trying to repair the graphics takes a tech, and that would cost more than a new card.
