I have a video card on my computer with an S video output what is it for?

I have an old sony video cam HI8. It also has an S video input can I connect them some how to import that old HI8 tape into my computer?|||S-Video is simply a higher video quality than VGA or DVI. The S Video on your camcorder is most likely there so that you can hook it up to a tv and display/record to a vcr or DVD burner if you have one. While it is possible for camcorders to hook up to computers for importing video, you need the proper connections and software to do that. As for your video card itself...the S Video port on there is for output only to a monitor with S Video support. Most video cards do not come with any type of input port.|||mine has that too.

here's my answer, i didnt look it up or anything;

Included to allow the connection with televisions, DVD players, video recorders and video game consoles. They often come in two 9-pin Mini-DIN connector variations, and the VIVO splitter cable generally comes with either 4 connectors (S-Video in and out + composite video in and out) or 6 connectors (S-Video in and out + component PB out + component PR out + component Y out (also composite out) + composite in).|||It's a video out port for your TV! (TV with s-video in that is)
